Climate-neutral event of world format

Bet-at-home Open to become a climate neutral sports event. In order to reach this goal, the organizer, HSE, is cooperating with renowned experts and companies.

Also in 2011, the Rothenbaum tournament is consulted by the Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V. (B.A.U.M.), a German research group for environmentally friendly management. B.A.U.M. has more than 500 members and is the biggest economic environmental initiative in Europe. This year, another great step will bet taken towards a climate neutral event. Avoiding and decreasing garbage by using multi-purpose packaging, reducing water consumption, as well as using environmental-friendly paper and eco-electricity are of great importance. CO²-emmissions caused by the players' travels are compensated by quality and certified climate protection projects.

By co-operating with the ATP-sponsor, Ricoh, the tournament found a company which supports its ambitions towards climate neutrality. The document management solutions provided by Ricoh and used at the tournament will be climate neutral due to the unique sustainability optimization program. Ricoh will compensate inevitable CO²-emmissions by emission credits, which Ricoh generated by investments within the framework of the Kyoto-protocol in projects for sustainable energies.

Also the spectators can do their share to contribute to an environmentally-oriented tournament by using the public transport ticket on their entrance tickets.

Ricoh’s customer sustainability programme wins top prize in prestigious good practice competition
